We have a low student to teacher ratio and feel that's truly an advantage of our school. Our staff are always accessible to every student and parent, which is also an advantage.

Concordia Christian Academy
Teaching Staff

Preschool:  Mrs. Joy Stewart

This will be Mrs. Stewart's fifth year at Concordia Christian Academy.  She taught for
seven years at the Montessori School of Jonesboro.  She has also taught in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.  She is a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther Teachers College in New Ulm,
Minnesota.  She and her husband, Robert, have one daughter.  Joy is a member of
Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Kindergarten: Mrs. Laura Jones

Mrs. Jones is in her third year here at Concordia Christian Academy. Laura is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She has taught at the Montessori School of Jonesboro, the Pediatric Day Clinic, and Adult Education Center. She and her husband, Mike, have one daughter. They are members at Nettleton Church of Christ.

1st/2nd grade: Mrs. Nancy Shewmaker

Mrs. Shewmaker will begin her eighth year of teaching at Concordia Christian Academy
this school year.  Nancy is a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia,
Missouri.  Nancy has also taught at Montessori School of Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Prior to
her positions in teaching, she home schooled her own children for eight years.  She and
her husband, Russell, have three sons.  Nancy is a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in
Jonesboro, Arkansas.

3rd/4th grade:  Miss. Rebekah Bernau

Ms. Bernau comes to us from Courtland, MN. She is a recent graduate from Concordia University in Mequon, WI, with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She comes to us with high recommendations, and we are happy to have her join our staff.

5th/6th grades:  Ms. Cheryl Honoree and Ms. Shelley Tiner

This will be Cheryl's fourth year at Concordia Christian Academy.  She has almost 30 years
teaching experience having taught in schools in Pennsylvania, and Florida.  Cheryl has
a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Concordia University in Seward,
Nebraska.  She has also completed an administrators program through the Lutheran
Church--Missouri Synod, and is currently working towards a master’s degree in Educational Administration.  Cheryl is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg.

Ms. Tiner is a resident of Harrisburg, AR. She graduated from Arkansas State University in August of 2008, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. She is working towards a Non-traditional teaching license from the state of Arkansas. She teaches Social Studies, Writing, and Grammar.
